Breast reconstruction
What is it?
Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that aims to reconstruct the breast after partial or complete removal of breast tissue, whether due to breast cancer or other health problems. The surgery can be performed immediately after a mastectomy (a surgical procedure to remove the breast) or later, when the patient is ready for reconstruction.

How to prepare?
Before surgery, you may need to:
Undergo medical examinations and evaluations;
Quit smoking before surgery;
Have a baseline mammogram before surgery and maintain follow-up with a breast specialist;
Adjust your current medications; avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatories, and natural medications, as they can increase bleeding.
Postoperative
Use of post-operative bra;
The post-surgical recovery period is usually 24 to 48 hours, followed by a rest period of 7 to 10 days;
Pain and swelling only occur during the first few days. Exercise and normal activities will be permitted following individual guidance from your plastic surgeon.
